Highlights from the Report Card on Washington's High Schools
  • Washington’s fastest improving high school is Chief Leschi in the Puyallup Valley. It is a Bureau of Indian Education school operated by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians.
  • Waterville’s K-12 school recorded the fastest decline in its high school rating.
  • Of the schools with more than 50% of their students from low-income families, Selkirk Junior/Senior High in Ione had the best 5-year average overall rating: an outstanding 8.4 out of 10.
  • Just 3 schools achieved a 5-year average high school overall rating of 10 out of 10. International School in Bellevue, Mercer Island High School, and International Community School in Kirkland.
  • Of all the state-wide tests written in Washington high schools in 2008, 41.5% were failed.
